Hola Azores
Hey everyone, let me tell you about my first day in Ponta Delgada—it was an absolute blast!
I started my day at the Church of São Sebastião. The architecture was stunning, and it felt like I had stepped back in time. From there, I wandered over to the Portas da Cidade, these grand old city gates. Walking through them was like entering a fairy tale! I also visited the Igreja do Colégio, another beautiful church that’s perfect for some great photos. The best part? All these spots were free, so I took my time exploring the narrow streets and soaking in the atmosphere.
Feast at Genuíno
By lunchtime, I was starving, so I headed to Restaurant Genuíno. If you ever come here, you’ve got to try it. The food is amazing—fresh fish and local Azorean dishes that are just incredible. After a few bites, I felt like I could speak Azorean!
In the afternoon, I decided to do a self-guided walking tour. There are free tours online, but I thought, why not just wander and see what I find? It was the best decision. I stumbled upon charming squares, quaint little shops, and even a couple of hidden gardens. Just taking in the local vibe was awesome.
As the day wrapped up, I found a cozy spot to relax. Whether you’re into a strong espresso at a local café or just chilling on a park bench watching the world go by, it’s the perfect way to reflect on the day’s adventures.
Seriously, Ponta Delgada is such a gem. It was an amazing first day, and I can’t wait to see what else the Azores have in store!
