In times of pandemics

Who does like the pandemic? I don't. Despite this, I realized that I have been given a rare and precious gift: time. Suddenly, there is a liberty to pursue projects and rediscover a love for long-lost handicrafts. It is comforting to know that people are willing to make the most of their time.

There is a camera called Afghan Box or Minutera Camera. It operates as a camera and darkroom in one piece. This camera is still used by photographers all over the world, particularly in Europe and Latin America. It uses photo paper to produce negatives, which are then used to develop positive photographs. Unlike conventional analog cameras, this camera doesn't require film.

Controlling the camera parts to get the best result and working with only photo paper, there is a necessity to make sure everything is done correctly. Considering the technical aspects (best time to create images, natural lighting, etc.), a learning curve is involved. By composing subjects properly and applying skills as an able photographer, it is possible to compensate for the camera's limitations.

Aside from enjoying the analog process of creating pictures, there is meaning in the creative exercise. I plan to photograph visual artists, performers, and fellow photography enthusiasts to capture their essence in an image.
