Where? What? - Location
Before even starting to get into some methods and techniques shooting your travel and street images I like to write something about settings and finding your location. Photography and Mastering the Exposure triangle can be a massive challenge. Shooting street photography is full of unpredictable, spontaneous moments and human behavior can be elusive. But when you start and love it you most certainly will be an addict for a lifetime.
To capture all the fleeting moments you usually miss with your eyes in the daily routine and hurry is a challenge but one is creatively good for your brain and eye. There is no need to predetermine or plan in advance, and mostly you can't. The advantage of street photography is that it doesn't limit you very much. The possibilities are nearly endless.
Wherever there is a moment in time, there is a possible photo to make.
Living at present in India I have the opportunity to see the rich culture. The vibrant colors are all around. A country which seems full of paradoxes and juxtapositions. There is not only one beautiful Street Photography location here in Mumbai but hundreds.
Mumbai, the financial capital of India, offers some opportunities in its different quarters. Wandering the streets of Mumbai you will find so many characters and stories as you wish. Many photographers are rushing to Marine Drive and Girgaum Chowpatty, a reasonable choice. Here you will find some excellent opportunities for street portraits, and especially at the end of the day for silhouettes.
But look a little bit further to some of the markets and one of my personal favorites - Bandra - around Chapel Road. Here follow some examples what you can expect.
