Hans-Christian Schink takes photographs of mundane subjects such as bridges, underpasses and tunnels and makes them look interesting. During a final round of judging the work of German-born photographer was singled out as the winner of the first REAL Photography Award. Schink's black and white print, which uses a photographic effect known as ‘true solarisation' forms part of a long-term project entitled ‘1 h' that will be presented as a series of 12 images from different places on earth depicting ‘movement'.
He is highlighted in the 2011, Jauary issue of Chinese Photography concerning his pictures capturing these traces of light and and an interview with Dorothea Ritter highlighting these pictures is printed as well.
