1957 saw the continued increase of larger fins on new cars and more lights, more potent engines and an ordinary car sold for under $2,800. The Soviet Union still existed and launched the first space spacecraft Sputnik 1. Movies like "Twelve Angry Men" and "The Bridge Over the River Kwai" could be seen in the cinema. Music was still Rock and Roll with artists like "Little Richard." Slinkys and Hula Hoops were in. The Treaty of Rome was endorsed on March 25, 1957, by West Germany, France, Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands founding the European Economic Community, the forerunner to the European Union and 1957 was the peak of the Baby Boomer years.
