After years of discussions it's now here: Hong Kong's food truck scheme has started for a two year trial. Made possible kind of by a Hollywood film " Chef". The finance minister saw this film and was inspired to bring it to the city.
The start begun with 8 trucks at the cultural center in Tsim Tsa Tsui and will be extended to 16 food trucks at 8 locations. They will serve international and local dishes, health food and new styled toasts. The first impression is that it is more likely to attract foreigners than locals. The higher price point of the products might spoil the idea of attracting locals. Nevertheless a new attraction for at least two years.
