It’s amazing what can be done with a place like the abandoned factory at number 9 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi. Starting out with some small places and a bigger bar it has been transformed from a ruin into - what ?? I would like to say into one of the hottest spots in town.
This area nicknamed “Zone 9”, has been served for washing and parking but most of the premises were quite abandoned. Some artists rediscovered the place late last year, and now it is a - want to be place - as everyone can see.
Mostly people in the creative industries decided to move in. some reason might have been the initial low cost rent. If you are on a limited budget that's the way to go. You will find different bars, restaurants and art spaces as: Tadioto, Nha San Collective, 9A4 M Studio, Dom Dom, Barbetta and so on just to name but a few. Zone 9 has become very hip. There are coming more and more bar cafes, fashion shops, restaurants, studios, and there is talk to compare it to some Art Zones in New York and London.
There is talk about building an apartment building there and the Art Zone might vanish at any time or stay depending on the budget of the building enterprise. As nobody knows for sure and can predict, I for myself will just enjoy as long as it exists.
