Organized crime comes under different names. Here in Asia under the name “Triad”. A term used to describe many branches of especially Chinese criminal organizations based in Asia but as well elsewhere in the world.
The Chinese triads are one of the world's largest criminal organizations, encompassing other criminal organizations with a steady membership of around 1.5 million in Mainland China alone and 2.5 million members worldwide
Daniel Chan born in Hong Kong and grewing up in Brisbane, Australia directed his first film 《Half Lit》, a neo-noir thriller about two brothers accidentally breaking into the house of a serial killer. After different projects he signed a writing/directing deal in 2009 with Goldcrest Films International to develop his English language feature “Lan Kwai Fong”.
2010, Chan wrote & directed the $10 Million HKD feature film “Smile For Me”, a thriller about a serial killer which won the NAFF Jury Award from the 14th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival.
On his website alive not dead (http://www.alivenotdead.com/danielchan/--profile-1668242.html) he wrote about his meeting with some triad members.
It will be interesting to see his approach on this matter even if it is no documentary.
