I am New York - am I?
The streets are like a river of life, places where we come together, our pathway to each other. These photographs are my answer to the harsh, fresh, energized and even enchanting spirit of New York City street life. I am attracted to alleys, street, and places, characteristic for a “flaneur in a city.”
New York is not an easy place to live. It can be crowded, depressing, humid and polluted, but the drama, variety, and intensity nevertheless excite us. I try to become part of the masses, anxious about getting close to my subjects while utilizing the camera. Becoming part of the crowd, you are not seen as individual and in this way become part of the potpourri of the city. I am where I belong, and my identity is expressed through my photographs. I can say I am New York in these moments.
