Don't show me the ... finger

The use of Gestures in Photography can take the photographs to another level. The nonverbal movement we see be it with the hand, the face, the whole, or as well the feet can express an idea, a question or some other emotion. It conveys a feeling or a conscious act to get across a point. This little extra can be full of emotional implications and make or break your image.

In Street Photography this can be just that essential element. Your image will most probably become more compelling.  From happiness to joy, sadness or loneliness there are so many different things to show with a little gesture.

There ....

There ....

When people are talking it is the easiest way to get images like this. Most of us are gesticulating, but it can just be a person smoking. People touching each other or even better kissing will tell us a whole story.

And action ...

And action ...

Getting a fleeting gesture at the right moment can take an image to the next level. Reacting in a split second before it is gone is the primary aim. Shooting too soon or too late, you missed the decisive moment.
